Grain-Handling Systems

Malt mills grind grain into grist while grain handling systems transfer that grist to the mash tun. That’s the way it’s supposed to work, in theory.

In the real world far too many grain-handling systems further crush the grain while conveying it to the mash tun. This further crushing alters the brewer’s specifications (and can alter the taste of the beer) and can create "flour" which can clog false bottom plates and seriously disrupt the lautering schedule.

ABT, working in conjunction with Iowa’s leading grain-handling equipment manufacturer, has developed a cable and bucket grain conveying system that is far more gentle than any flex or rigid auger system currently on the market.
